Moxy Budapest Downtown – Playful Design and Community Experiences in the Heart of the City

With the opening of Moxy Budapest Downtown, Marriott International’s dynamic lifestyle brand has officially arrived in Hungary. Located in Budapest’s historic Jewish Quarter, the hotel embraces a contemporary urban spirit where community, creativity, and design play a central role. The interior concept subtly reflects the building’s past while creating a fresh and energetic identity for the property.

The interior design concept of Moxy Budapest Downtown, developed by BWM Designers & Architects, combines industrial textures, theatrical references, and local inspirations into a distinctive and cohesive environment. Open communal areas, flexible lounge zones, and playful visual elements create a setting that encourages social interaction, work, and relaxation alike.

For the project, Basic Collection supplied key furniture pieces for both the communal spaces and the guest rooms. Lounge chairs, dining chairs, tables, and various hospitality furnishings were carefully selected to complement the hotel's strong visual identity, while ensuring high levels of comfort and long-term durability. The diverse forms, colours, and materials of the furniture contribute to the relaxed, community-focused atmosphere that defines the Moxy Hotels brand.

Within the guest rooms, a more restrained material palette and clean furniture solutions create a balance to the vibrant energy of the public areas. Throughout the project, the furniture serves not only a functional purpose but also plays an active role in shaping the hotel’s unique character. The result is a distinctive and contemporary hotel interior that authentically reflects the international spirit of Moxy Hotels in one of Budapest’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.
